Time To Pick The Super Bowl

It’s the day before the Super Bowl and it’s time to actually make the pick official.  I’ve been beating around the bush (kind of) for two weeks and now it’s time to say what I mean and mean what I say.

The Colts are going to take it.  There I said it.

Drew Brees is nice or whatever, but he ain’t Peyton Manning.  Marques Colston is nice, but he ain’t Reggie Wayne or Austin Collie or Pierre Garcon.  The Saints defense is nice, but the Colts defense is faster.

I spent a few days thinking this game would be a blowout until I remembered a couple things:

1.  The bad kicking in the league this season.

2.  The speed of the Colts defense.

We’ll go back and forth and all of that for most of the night, except we’ll have a missed field goal and one BIG defensive play from the Colts and that will make the difference.

I’m thinking Colts – 38 Saints- 34.

Now, because the Hall of Fame makes it’s choices during Super Bowl weekend I’d like to point out something that I think is pretty funny.

We have the most pass-happy offenses in recent memory in the Super Bowl, right?  And the Hall of Fame announces its selections the Saturday before the Super Bowl, right?  Who’s the leading name to go into the hall this weekend?

Jerry Rice.

I think it’s sweet for the games greatest receiver (and greatest player in my opinion) to go in at the same time as two teams who features receivers like they’re chocolate in Hershey, PA.  (I know, that one was REALLY good.)

Anyways, congratulations to Jerry Rice.  You haven’t gotten the call yet, but you will.  You’re the best…literally.
