Ok, let me get this straight. The Rams, who have an injured and very young quarterback who they spent a ton of money on, will be hiring Brian Schottenheimer as their new offensive coordinator. Was anybody paying attention in New York? Did they not see what went on up there?
Remember, all was fine and dandy, but Mark Sanchez never progressed beyond what he started as. In fact, he regressed this season to the point that many people were wondering if the Jets were going to give up on him entirely. Let’s see…if you take the OC from that situation and plunk him down in a new city with another young quarterback, that’s going to work how?
Oh yeah, it isn’t.
I don’t even understand why Schottenheimer got the Jets job given his recent performance, but now I have to wonder what the Rams and Jeff Fisher are thinking. I thought Jeff Fisher was a smart guy, but it seems as though he wasn’t paying attention this season. I just don’t understand how he expects to have Bradford develop when this guy is going to be running the offense.
Is he bringing back Kurt Warner to be the quarterbacks coach? If so, then I guess I’m ok with it. Otherwise, what in the world are they doing?
I’m not saying Schottenheimer can’t have a job, but it can’t be running an offense, especially with a young guy at the helm. He needs to be coaching a position where someone else is totally responsible for the overall development of players. Rex Ryan is pretty forgiving, and Schottenheimer was out the door pretty fast this season.
Does that tell you anything? It tells me that the Jets were sick of it, and now, I’m afraid, the Rams will get the same dose, only worse–because Bradford is injury prone.
