The second night of the 2011 NFL preseason kicks off tonight with Friday night football. Once again the starters won’t play much but there is still much to be learned.
Dolphins at Falcons – The Falcons have to be in any discussion for the post season, even starting now. They played very well last year and they have improved their team for this year adding Julio Jones and some defensive help as well. I think Julio will play tonight but he will be treated as a starter and won’t play much. The Falcons are looking very, very good to start the season.
Bengals at Lions – Who is the Bengals QB? Dalton? Jordan Palmer? One of them I guess. Carson hit the road and Ochocinco bolted for the Pats. No more TO. They still have Shipley and Gresham, but QB is a big question. It’s also a question for the Lions. Not in who it will be, it will be Stafford, but can he stay healthy. If he can, the Lions look like a decent team this year but have been hit hard by the injury bug before the season even starts.
Steelers at Redskins – So, the Skins Rex Grossman said that they are going to win their division. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA enough said. The Steelers will be a strong team again this year and it looks like Big Ben getting married in the off season prevented him from becoming another distraction.
Bucs at Chiefs – The Bucs are going to continue to improve and will make the NFC South one of the tightest divisions of the season with the Saints, Falcons and Bucs. Josh Freeman looked very good last season and should only improve this year. The Chiefs are coming along as well with Matt Cassel at the helm. They played very well to start last season and it will be interesting to see if they get off to the same start this year.
49ers at Saints – The Saints has a little bit of an off season last year, off season for them anyway. They seemed sluggish at times and just not playing with the same intensity. They let Reggie Bush go but have Alabama standout Mark Ingram waiting for his turn. The 49ers have Alex Smith at the helm but Colin Kapernick is waiting in the wings. They have Jeremiah Masoli at RB. The 49ers are looking to improve on last year.
It’s preseason football….Friday night lights…..let’s get some!
