The Cincinnati Bengals have a reputation for being one of the worst run franchises in the NFL, but their latest stunt is a new low, even for them.
According to SI.com, the Bengals sent this letter to former season ticket holders:
“After another excellent draft class, the addition of Antonio Bryant, and arrival of Terrell Owens, the 2009 AFC North champions are looking to have an even better 2010 season, and we would love for you to join us again! For a limited time only, if you purchase new Season Tickets, you will receive a voucher for a free box of popcorn. ..”
Are you kidding me? A free box of popcorn is my incentive to buy season tickets for a team that is 3-11 this season?
The cheapest season seats to watch the Bengals are $60 a game. So a season ticket will cost a Bengals fan nat least $480 for the season. And most fans buy two tickets, so the true cost is closer to $960, and that is for the worst seats in the stadium.
The Bengals get my award for worst front-office move of the season.
