According to Scout.com, after visiting Wisconsin over the weekend, Penn State offensive line commit J.J. Denman (4*, all recruiting services) rescinded his PSU commitment and is now pledged to the Badgers. Denman is a Pennsylvania kid (Fairless Hills, PA) and committed to Penn State back in May.
“The Badgers like those big boys up front, and the Pennsylvania native fits the bill at about 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds,” ESPN’s Craig Haubert writes. “In addition to the size that Wisconsin likes to have in the trenches the big man also displays the flexibility, agility, and playing strength for the tackle position. His strength at this point is in the run game and he can be a tough, and even potentially dominating, run blocker which should help him fit in well in Madison.”
Big loss for the Nittany Lions. Denman, 6’6″ 310 offensive lineman, is a four star prospect on Scout, Rivals, and Lions 24/7. Not only does Penn State not get him, but now they will have to play against him four times,
Here is Penn State current recruiting situation in the trenches, courtesy of Junny’s weekly recruiting summaries (although position switches are almost always in play for the big guys). From the looks of it, the offensive line is suddenly looking pretty thin, and I would expect the Lions to add 2-3 more offensive lineman to this class.
