Thursday Night Football

This week marks the 2010 debut of Thursday Night Football on the NFL Network and the game to kick things off is a great one.  The 6-2 Falcons vs the 6-2 Ravens.  Sounds good, on paper, but injuries may make the Falcons chances of winning a lot less believable.

The Falcons come into Thursday night’s game limping, literally.  Roddy White was limited in practice after injuring his knee on Sunday.  He did not practice for 2 days at all and was limited on Wednesday and is listed as questionable for the Thursday night game.  Falcons center Todd McClure also has a minor knee injury and is also listed as questionable for Thursday night’s game.  Add to that LB Sean Weatherspoon who did not practice at all this week also listed as questionable.  The Falcons knees are taking a beating lately and the Roddy White injury comes at a very inopportune time with such a short week between games from the injury.

For the Ravens, it looks like Safety Tom Zbikowski is out for the game on Thursday.  Other than that injury though, the Ravens look pretty healthy overall.  They have been working to get their offense on track with their defense and if Atlanta has players out or players that are playing with minor injuries, things could turn ugly for the Falcons in a hurry especially if someone gets injured further.  What looks like a close game on paper could turn into a blowout for the Ravens.

I’m just hoping that the first Thursday night game of the year turns out to be exciting – bring on the football!
