What do you get when you combine an unbelievably effective defense and the return of a pro bowl QB? Apparently, you get the emergence of the best team in the NFL in the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers look unstoppable and their momentum is building. They dominated the Cleveland Browns this weekend (to be expected), but something more impressive happened during that game. Big Ben Roethlisbeger stepped back in after his suspension and looked as if he hadn’t missed a snap all year. His QB skills combined with the number one ranked defense in the league makes the Pittsburgh Steelers a force to be reckoned with, and my pick to win the AFC.
This team can roll anyone and although they will most likely have to overcome the Ravens, Colts, or Patriots in the AFC Championship game, they would still be my pick to win regardless of their opponent. They are a group that plays as a unit, which is rare in the NFL as most players focus on individual stats or accomplishments (i.e. Brett Favre’s Vikings, the Bengals). They want the win at any cost and I truly feel no one player is bigger than that team. Big Ben had to learn that the hard way and there are many reports coming out that he has come back more humble, more approachable, and eager to gain the respect back of his teammates.
If that is true, the Steelers are a force to be reckoned with and my pick for the Super Bowl Champions in 2010-2011.
