Polamalu-cules Are Number 1

The NFLShop.com released their list of top selling jerseys for the last year and Troy Polamalu came out on the top of the list.

Polamalu, the Steelers fearless safety, who flies around the field throwing his body at opposing teams with his long thick mane of hair flowing out from under his helmet, topped all jersey sales for the last year.  Polamalu has grown even more famous for his Head and Shoulders ad campaign that is wildly successful.

Super Bowl Don’ts

There are a few things you expect from the Super Bowl.  A good game.  A great venue.  An exciting National Anthem.  A fun halftime show.  Some funny and creative commercials.  This Super Bowl delivered on 1 thing – the game.

Cheese Whiz

I thought the Super Bowl would be a close game.  It was at 5 points.  I thought that mistakes would determine the winner.  They did.  I thought that the Black Eyed Peas show would be good.  It was not.  And I thought the Steelers would win the game.  They did not.  The Packers took advantage of every mistake and won the game.  The Steelers helped the Packers win the game.

Pick At Your Own Risk

The upcoming Super Bowl has two of the most closely matched teams in a long time.  To try and pick the winner of this game would be stupid.  I do look for it to be a defensive showdown and low scoring, but outside of that there are only really two observations that can be made.

Maurkice Pouncey, the center for the Steelers, will not be playing in the Super Bowl. He was injured in the game vs the Jets and it is even more serious than first thought.  This does not bode well for the Steelers.  Not well at all.

Let’s say that Big Ben and the Steelers win the Super Bowl.  Let’s say they win it by a lot.  Leave no doubt as to who the better team is.  Will Ben get the same respect as Tom?  As Terry? Or will his off the field issues still cloud his on the field successes?

NFL Championships Thoughts

NFLI have had the flu for the past few days and have spent much of that time in bed sick.  I did drag myself out of bed for part of the championship games on Sunday but from what little I saw, I missed little.  The Packers and the Steelers won but neither team played to their potential while the Jets and Bears played exactly to their potential.

This year a lot of the sports media coverage has focused on the quarterbacks.  It has been called the year of the quarterback.  In reality though, many of the great games this season have been won with defense.  The defense is what is driving a lot of teams and especially the teams that are still left in the playoffs.

Who To Cheer For

Steelers Logo
Well, all of my teams are now out of the playoffs.  After having absolutely outstanding seasons, two of the best in the NFL, the Falcons and Patriots are both eliminated on their first game of the playoffs.  It was beyond disappointing to say the least.  Now, I am left with 4 teams in the championship round and none of them are teams I want to cheer for.
