Penn State Lose Mornhinweg Pick Up Evan Schwan

Good news, bad news for Penn State fans on the recruiting trail this weekend. According to various reports, Philadelphia quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg has decided to attend Florida instead of Penn State.

Mornhinweg had been a Penn State commit since July but that all changed when Florida names Brent Pease its new offensive coordinator Brent Pease.

Pease and Mornhinweg’s father, Marty Mornhinweg who is the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator, played college football together at Montana and that connection allowed Pease to come in late and snag the commitment of Mornhinweg. But lose for the Nittany Lions.

On the plus side, Penn State landed Evan Schwan, a 6-foot-6 all state defensive end from Central Dauphin. Schwan had 72 tackles and 16.5 sacks in 16 games this past season as a senior.

Schwan is the eighth commit to the Nittany Lions since Bill O’Brien was named head coach. His commitment brings the number of Penn State recruits for 2012 to 20.
