Patriots Brandon Spike suspended for 4 games

DSC_0580In an announcement that takes the gloss somewhat off the beatdown of the Jets last week, the NFL has suspended New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes our games without pay for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Spikes is the Patriots second leading tackler this season, will now miss the final four games of the regular season. He will be eligible to rejoin the active roster after the finale at home against Miami, so he will be eligible for the playoffs.

Spikes said in a statement issued by the Patriots that the substance “was a medication that I should have gotten clarification on before taking. It was not a performance enhancer or an illegal drug.”

Spikes is the second Patriots came to be suspended by the NFL for PED. Rodney Harrison missed four games in 2007 for taking human growth hormone.
