The Buffalo Bills, for the first time in many years, have had an offseason filled with moves worthy of conversation.  The new approach for the Bills front office started last season when the Bills brought in veteran linebacker Nick Barnett, re-signed their best defensive lineman, at the time, Kyle Williams, and early this offseason re-signed their number one receiver, Stevie Johnson.  The Bills really made a huge and surprising splash when they signed highly sought after, free agent, Mario Williams to the most expensive defensive contract in NFL history.

With a stroke of the pen, the Minnesota Vikings will be staying in the land of 10,000 lakes with a new stadium.  So with that latest tax placed upon the fine citizens of Minnesota, what team is now the leading candidate to become the new franchise in Los Angeles?

As of last winter it was down to 4 choices.  Minnesota was in the lead, up until the new stadium financing went through.  Jacksonville was a second place pick.  However new ownership seems to have ended that dream.  There was the thought of an expansion team led by Magic Johnson, until Johnson joined the group that bought the Los Angeles Dodgers.  So that leaves the city of Angels only one more possibility.

Throughout the NCAA, players are hurting.  Not only are they in agony, but also their extended families.  Yet that information is ignored, even denied by the governing body of college athletics.

Every so often we catch a glimpse of a player whose family is so down, so destitute that they are begging for help.  Families who are looking to get in from the cold, their electric turned back on, and their gas lit so they can be warm.  Yet colleges, boosters or even some person looking to help cannot because it would be a violation of the rules the NCAA has instituted.

I watched the interviews of former Minnesota Vikings receiver Cris Carter and former Broncos linebacker Bill Romanowski about whether or not they placed bounties on players while they were playing.  I was not surprised to hear Cris Carter admit that there were players, like Romanowski, that he asked his offensive lineman to put a hit on to possibly put them out of the game.  In fact I commend Mr. Carter for open and honest about that part of his playing days.  I was however a little shocked to hear Bill “BA” Romanowski say that he never went onto a field to injure a player.  Come on Bill, you really think that people that watched you play over the years would believe that you never wanted to intentionally injure another player?  Between you and Bryan Cox you two were the dirtiest defensive players of that time.  Late hits, illegal hits, and plain as day hits to body a part that should not be targeted, that was how they played

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has to be looking in the mirror wondering what he did to upset the football Gods.   Hall of Fame wide Receiver Art Monk is the latest in a long line of retired players to join in another lawsuit against the league.

We have discussed ad nauseum what Goodell hasn’t done to help those in need who placed the NFL on the map.  To make the NFL what it is today for him to become Commissioner with only one goal in mind, the 18 game season.

Vince Young is back.  No not with the Philadelphia Eagles.  That experiment lasted but one season.  No Young is in Buffalo where the former Heisman trophy winner out of Texas is now the new backup quarterback for the Bills.

This should be an interesting ride for Young.  He is stepping into a situation where the Bills starter, Ryan Fitzpatrick, is an average quarterback at best.  He had the Bills out to their best start in years last season, yet the team digressed and finished third in the AFC East.

So, Alex Smith threw some passes to Randy Moss in drills, and, he thinks that Randy looks just fine.  Might I remind everyone, again, that Randy Moss is the same guy who admitted to taking plays off when he was a much younger man.  Chances are, his hands are great.  I don’t think we ever implied that they weren’t.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Have to get sick of this, year in and year out.  If he is not nursing broken toes or fingers then it is outside activity that draws attention to him. Most Steeler fans love Ben, but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, his yearly Drama is starting to get old.

Now that the real life NFL draft is complete, it’s time to start thinking about every bosses fall nightmare….. Fantasy Football. In just a few short weeks, the world of Fantasy Football will open its 2012 campaign with hundreds of magazines, mock drafts, team name suggestions, and more. So to kick
this all off, who is the player to own on each team in the NFL? That is a good starting point for Fantasy 2012 and here is the official list:

AFC

New England Patriots – Tom Brady – No proven running back and what seems to be about 12 quality veteran WR’s (not to mention two top ten TE’s) make Brady a must own.

The Bills have been quiet as of late. Recently, they held a work-out for QB Vince Young for a possible back-up role, which he would need to compete for against Tyler Thigpen. In my opinion, Vince would be the better back up for the Bills. He has that starter experience, and as I have stated before what is better than a player that has something to prove. The Bills have yet to sign any of their draft picks, which I have to believe is the more focus right now than signing Vince. The Bills are quiet right now, but this team is going to make some more noise in the 2012 season.
