Packers Celebrate Super Bowl Win With Fans At Lambeau Field

Fifty-Six thousand Packers fans greeted the Super Bowl Champions at Lambeau Field.

The stadium opened two hours before the ceremony. The atmosphere inside was electric as fans watched highlights from the past season on the stadium’s giant television screens set to a rousing orchestral soundtrack. The crowd waved world champion flags, erupted into chants of “Go Pack Go!” and danced to House of Pain’s “Jump Around” and the Village People’s “YMCA.”

Team president and CEO Mark Murphy opened the celebration with remarks thanking the fans and praising the coaching staff and players. Murphy singled out GM Ted Thompson in particular.

“The injuries we had. … Lesser organizations and lesser teams would have really struggled. That’s a tribute to Ted. We’re proud to bring the Lombardi Trophy where it belongs: back in Green Bay,” Murphy told fans. There’s a lot of history and tradition here. We gotta start winning some more to catch up with Lombardi!”

Super Bowl XLV MVP Aaron Rodgers received the loudest cheers of his teammates and echoed McCarthy’s hopes for more silverware.

“We’ve got an incredible group of guys. The core is coming back,” Rodgers told the fans. “I’ll tell you what Green Bay, we’re going to be right here next year doing this exact same thing!”

“Just a very special moment,” safety Nick Collins told the crowd from the stage. “Something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. I’ve been chasing this dream for a long, long time, and I’m just glad to be a part of it.”

I thought it amazing that folks had paid all that money to get into the Cowboy Stadium and the Fire Marshall told a bunch of them that they would be refunded and could not sit in their seats. I would have been so upset, it was expensive to get to and into the game on Sunday. I’m also a major Packer fan and have grown up knee deep in it with my Dad being a Wisconsin born and raised Packer fan. We gathered for game at his house with his brand new Theater system fully equipped with new HD equipment. He wanted to upgrade after seeing the glory of HD at a friends house and since I do work for Dish Network I offered him some suggestions. He wanted a free upgrade and programming like he had heard on the commercial and needed it the week of the Super Bowl, of all times. He took the farm; he was able to get 3 HD receivers at no charge and all his HD programming free for the life of his account. I thought he was pretty lucky to even get the install the week of the biggest game of the Packer century, he was confident just like he had been all season about his Packers. It’s great to be around other folks especially family that share the same intensity as I do especially when it’s my Dad and his Packers.
