I know, the Chargers are winning in this picture , but I don’t buy it!
The Jets travel to San Diego to meet the Chargers this weekend for a chance at the AFC Title Game. I’m going to make what most people would consider to be a stupid pick, but please stay with me.
First off, I dont’ trust Norv Turner. I’m just waiting for him to make a bad decision. Basically, he’s got to win a Super Bowl for me to trust him, AND not make a bad call during the game.
Anyways, the Chargers offense is potent. Phillip Rivers is an animal. He has weapons all over the place, but there’s one problem with playing the Jets. The “46” defense that Rex Ryan runs (with Doug Plank) stops the run like a charm. That means LDT and Darren Sproles will be chastened from the start.
Now, Rivers has to go to Vincent Jackson…who is very good. What’s the problem with that? Darelle Revis will be on him like white on rice ALL DAY LONG. Revis had held Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, T.O., Marques Colston, Andre Johnson and a host of other receivers under 35 yards receiving this year and I’m certain he will add Vince Jackson to the list.
Now where do the Chargers go? To Antonio Gates? That isn’t going to work and we all know it. Gates can’t win a game in the slot and catching screens all day. With one receiver and no running game the Chargers are stuck.
Yes, Mark Sanchez is a rookie, but Joe Flacco was last year and he did just fine. Sanchez to Edwards is something we need to get used to and Edwards is taller than all of San Diego’s cornerbacks. It only takes on TD to break the San Diego defense and put this game out of reach.
