I Got It!

Aaron Rodgers' Exit
The Super Bowl played out about as closely to what I thought as I could hope for.  I never dreamed that I would be this close to correct.  The Steelers couldn’t catch a break, and they turned the ball over far too much.

It also didn’t help that the Steelers allowed those turnovers to become points.

So, is this game about Big Ben not stepping up, injuries for the Steelers, Charles Woodson’s inspiring halftime speech, or Aaron Rodgers?

Personally, I think it’s about Aaron Rodgers.  He just vaulted himself into a new realm when he made the Packers into an aerial circus that seldom ran the ball and spread the Steelers out like crazy.

I doubted, initially, that the Packers could just sling the ball around at will without any real retribution from the Steelers.  I guess I was wrong.

Take out a couple drops by Jordy Nelson and Nelson could have ended up the MVP or Rodgers could have had what many people might be calling the best game by a quarterback in the history of the Super Bowl.

Imagine what that would’ve looked like.

Brett Favre would have been wiped off the map completely in Green Bay.  I mean, I’m sure everyone is already chanting “Brett Who?” again up by the water, and now Aaron Rodgers has as many rings as Favre and more MVP’s.

Does Aaron Rodgers finally become a superstar?  Yes.  Does he get a huge new contract in the near future?  Yes (given the league and players can get a CBA hammered out).  Does he step up to where Manning and Brady are right now?  Pretty much.

He wins another one and some people are going to start asking Peyton Manning some hard questions.  Aaron Rodgers just put some pressure on some very good players.

I can’t wait to see how they play next year.
