There are 2 weekends of games left in the Frontier Conference regular season. It will soon be time for the NAIA playoffs and then the championship game.
The Carroll College Saints still hold the top spot in the Frontier Conference with a 8-1 overall record and a 7-1 conference record. Eastern Oregon remains in 2nd place in the Frontier Conference with an overall 6-3 record and a 6-2 conference record. Rocky Mountain is in 3rd place with Montana State-Northern in 4th, Montana Western in 5th and Montana Tech in 6th place in the conference. This weekend’s conference matchups feature 1 good game and possibly 2 blowouts.
The #3 Rocky Mountain Bears will travel to Havre to play the #4 ranked MSU-Northern Lights. It should be a very chilly weekend of football in the great north of Montana. If the Lights win it could flip them to 3rd in the conference standings. This is a big game for both teams.
The #2 Eastern Oregon team will travel to Dillon to play #5 Montana Western. Western played Carroll last weekend and were beaten soundly. I look for the Eastern Oregon to do pretty much the same thing this weekend.
The # ranked Carroll College Saints will play the last place Montana Tech Orediggers this weekend at home. This game could turn into a blowout and it could turn into one very, very quickly. The Saints are on a roll winning 7 games in a row and that train isn’t going to be making a stop this weekend at home.
Carroll College is still ranked at #3 in the NAIA poll. A spot they have occupied for most of the season behind Xavier and Marion, Ind. who are both undefeated. Eastern Oregon also remains in the NAIA top 25 at #21.
Only 2 more weekends of regular season play remains and then the playoffs start. Unlike the BCS contenders, the NAIA teams do have playoffs. The first round of the playoffs generally happens the Saturday after Thanksgiving with the pairings announced usually days after the end of the regular season, which ends on November 12.
