Tennessee Titans

Vince Young is back.  No not with the Philadelphia Eagles.  That experiment lasted but one season.  No Young is in Buffalo where the former Heisman trophy winner out of Texas is now the new backup quarterback for the Bills.

This should be an interesting ride for Young.  He is stepping into a situation where the Bills starter, Ryan Fitzpatrick, is an average quarterback at best.  He had the Bills out to their best start in years last season, yet the team digressed and finished third in the AFC East.

The Tennessee Titans have the ability to be one of the better defenses in the NFL next season. They are coming off a year where they ranked 18th in Total defense, and an impressive 8th in points allowed. However, they lost three main starters from their 2011 unit; Cornerback Cortland Finnegan, Middle linebacker Barret Ruud, and Defensive Tackle Jason Jones, but they look to improve during the 2012 campaign.

Manning Picks The Broncos? Why?

by David on March 19, 2012

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Peyton Manning has made his decision … and he’s taking his talent to the Mike High City.

According to Mort, Manning called Broncos VP of Operations John Elway this morning to inform him of the decision. Manning also called the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans, the other two teams in the running for Manning’s services, to inform them.

Manning threw for Elway and a large group of Broncos and executives and coaches on Friday in North Carolina, and Elway was impressed.

Free Agency in the NFL starts Tuesday afternoon and already, a big name has dropped into the lap of one of the league Super Bowl contenders.

Randy Moss will take his talents out west and play for the San Francisco 49ers.  This is a monster signing for the Niners and coach Jim Harbaugh, because it gives them the weapon they needed in the Championship game with the New York Giants last year when Ted Ginn, Jr was unable to play.

I heard this one this morning, and I have to say that I am intrigued, but as much as I am intrigued, I am also a little bit nervous that the Titans would be getting a guy who is coming home.  Coming home is one thing.  Winning a Super Bowl is quite another.

Now, in that sense, why would you allow the Titans to sign Manning if, in fact, he is really just coming home and not trying to win?  I know Peyton is super-competitive, but, that doesn’t mean that he isn’t thinking about “going home” and allowing the Titans to have their golden boy on the payroll to sell tickets.

Going into Sunday night, a little known, little heard of documentary based upon a high school football team in Memphis was up for the Oscar on Best Documentary.  Oscar or no, this documentary shows that team has already won.

The documentary is named “Undefeated” and documents the extraordinary concern and passion of a white football coach for his team of African-American players, whose chaotic personal lives threaten to undermine their talents.  It reflects an entire season and how they deal with everything that comes between them and the game.

Speculation continues to run amuck around the corners of the NFL on where Peyton Manning will end up next year.  Never has the NFL seen this kind of frenzy over a single player.

The media is constantly speculating and asking the same questions over and over.  Will Manning remain with the Colts or can he actually leave for another team?  Ordinarily a quarterback of this stature would not be going anywhere.  However there are 28 million reasons why the Colts will let Manning leave the only franchise he has known.

The Tennessee Titans had been thought of as a potential destination for Peyton Manning, but the Titans new GM Ruston Webster has thrown cold water on that suggestion during a conference call with season-ticket holders.

The Titans signed Matt Hasselbeck to a three-year deal worth more than $20 million last July, and he played well in 2011, leading the Titans to a 9-7 record while throwing for 3,571 yards, the most by a Tennessee quarterback since 2002.

Rams Are Fisher’s Choice

by Greg Mitchell on January 13, 2012

It’s been a week of waiting and hoping for the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams.  A week of apprehension and uncertainty.  But at the end of the day, the St. Louis Rams have won the Jeff Fisher sweepstakes.

Fisher has decided after thinking, gauging and going back and forth the Rams are the team for him to continue his coaching career.  But the decision didn’t come with a fully fledged “YES!”  You see, Fisher vacillated on which job to take, right up until the last day.

AFC Playoff Picture

by Deborah on December 27, 2011

The AFC playoff picture is partially painted through week 16 but there are still some spots up for grabs under various scenarios.

Already solidified are the AFC East and a 1st round bye with the Patriots.  The AFC South spot is also sorted out with the Houston Texans.  The two wildcard teams right now are the Steelers and Ravens but that could change depending on what happens this weekend.

The Ravens clinch the AFC North division and a first-round bye with a Ravens win OR a Ravens tie and a Steelers loss or tie OR a Steelers loss.  The Ravens clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a Ravens win and a Patriots loss at the Bills.
