It’s always hard when a longtime NFL Veteran decides to call it quits. For Brian Dawkins, after 16 seasons, the end is here and he announced prior to the NFL draft so the Denver Broncos could make plans accordingly.
Dawkins didn’t call a press conference to make his decision known. The new way of announcing things for athletes is via the twitter account. Dawkins didn’t disappoint.

Fun and games are continuing in the Big Apple with their secondary football team, the New York Jets. The headlines keep pouring out and it just keeps getting better and better.
The Jets should just change their name to the New York Controversy. There is never a calm day with the team. It’s always something. From Tim Tebow, to Mark Sanchez to Rex Ryan all the way up to the owner Woody Johnson. Let’s start with Johnson.
According to reports, Johnson wants his team back on the HBO hit show “Hard Knocks” and has agreed to do it, even starting negotiations. But his outspoken coach is against the project.

The Broncos still have needs even though they picked up the most sought after free agent in the history of the game. For example, Manning needs a backup. You just have to have one, so, who better to pick than someone who has had a little success as a backup. Caleb Hanie is a Bronco after agreeing with the team to a contract to work behind Peyton Manning.

It’s been quite a week in the NFL as far as newsworthy items. First Peyton Manning is signed by Denver, causing Tim Tebow to be traded to the New York Jets. Then Sean Payton and Gregg Williams are suspended for at least one year because of paying players to injure others on the field.
That is what makes this statement by one of the most famous Tele-evangelists so incredible. Pat Robertson, Founder of the “700 Club” and one of the outspoken leaders of the Christian Right movement, stated Thursday he believes Peyton Manning deserves to be hurt. What would make Robertson make that statement? Simply this.

Could it be the tenure of Tim Tebow in Denver is not over as reported earlier today? Because of a glitch in the Tebow contract that apparently Bronco’s VP John Elway wasn’t aware of, the trade to the New York Jets is off.
Meanwhile it appears the Jacksonville Jaguars have re-entered the Tebow sweepstakes, which makes many fans in the northern Florida city very happy. This is the type of deal that could keep the Jags in Florida, instead of moving to Los Angeles.

It’s amazing how one signing can change the direction of a division so suddenly. With all the fanfare of a hero coming home, Peyton Manning was introduced yesterday to the Denver Broncos media and fans, thus showing the rest of the division things have changed in the ole West.
Let’s start with the Oakland Raiders. First round picks for quarterback Carson palmer last year was supposed to give the Raiders the division title and a pass into the AFC Title game for the next few years to come. But a new owner, new general manager and a new coach changed the face of this team for the first time in 50 years. Now the Raiders will approach things with the NFL thinking, rather than the “maverick” ideas from Al Davis that led to the Raiders being a premier franchise for years.

Inevitable yes. Quickly not so expected. Tim Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets for a 4th round and a sixth-round pick in exchange for Denver‘s seventh-rounder and the QB.
This was a trade that was waiting to happen, maybe even as early as last season before Tebow took over as quarterback of the Denver Broncos. Let’s face it, John Elway and John Fox had no problem expressing their disdain in Tebow and his ability to quarterback an NFL club.

For what I heard reported as five years and over $90 million in total value, I think the Denver Broncos just got their best chance to win a title. Moreover, Peyton Manning got more than the incentive-laden contract that everyone thought he was going to get. Now, what to do the Broncos do with Tim Tebow?
My colleague, whom I work in the same office with, asked me today what they should do. I said, “You trade Tim Tebow to Jacksonville and let them sell more tickets than they’ve ever sold before and sell more jerseys than they’ve ever sold before and basically, one day, he’ll own the Jaguars. They’ll never leave Jacksonville if he goes there.”

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Peyton Manning has made his decision … and he’s taking his talent to the Mike High City.
According to Mort, Manning called Broncos VP of Operations John Elway this morning to inform him of the decision. Manning also called the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans, the other two teams in the running for Manning’s services, to inform them.
Manning threw for Elway and a large group of Broncos and executives and coaches on Friday in North Carolina, and Elway was impressed.

The Peyton Manning derby continued into its second week with little sign of a decision being forthcoming. It’s almost like the hokey pokey, teams get in, teams get out, Manning flies himself all about.
After meeting with the Dolphins, Titans, Cardinals and Broncos early in the derby process, the Broncos forced the hand of two other teams when the Broncos put out exactly how much they were offering or alleged to be offering Peyton for his services. That figure, said to be around 50 million for 5 years, eliminated the Dolphins and Cardinals from contention. That left the Titans and Broncos. But wait, there’s more.
