I live in Atlanta, so, it stands to reason that many of my friends on Facebook would be from Atlanta and Falcons fans. So, when they are complaining about much the announcers are fawning over how good the Saints are, I know that we’ve got something good going on. Drew Brees broke Dan Marino’s single-season passing mark and the Saints put down the Falcons with a very convincing victory.
See, the thing that Falcons fans don’t understand about Drew Brees is that he is GREAT. He’s not just a flash-in-the-pan record breaker who will never be heard from again. Heaven only knows how many yards he will have when he retires and he is on pace to be a hall of famer when he retires. He’s that big of a deal.
Plus, Falcons fans are upset because they don’t like losing to their blood-rival in New Orleans. Instead of trying to pretend like they are disappointed, they should have been pleased to see such a feat. I mean, you can pretend like this isn’t a huge accomplishment, but you might as well just say “good job” and let it go.
So, this is a news flash to Falcons fans:
Get over it. Drew Brees did something that NOBODY thought would happen (and we were all willing to bet that Peyton Manning was going to do it anyways.) Remember, the Saints won the Super Bowl because they are a better run franchise with more passionate fans that is in a city that is all-in for them.
You don’t have that, and you can’t do much about it. So, to the Saints, I say, good job. They are clearly the best team in this division, and they might be the hottest team in the NFC.
Now, let’s see what happens when they get to the divisional round of the playoffs.
