The Washington Redskins are just one bad news story after another. Albert Haynesworth turned himself in to sign a summons warrant following a road rage incident that occurred on February 2. Haynesworth will have a court date on March 31. Then, Redskins kick returner, Brandon Banks was stabbed outside of a nightclub.
The two incidents are just the most recent in a line of trouble the Redskins have faced and a lot of it caused by Haynesworth himself. The Redskins, who were probably looking to trade Haynesworth for even a late round draft pick, have now got to know that they are going to have to eat all that money they laid out for him and just let him go. There will be almost no team that I can think of in the NFL that would take on a player like Haynesworth who has been nothing but trouble for his entire NFL career. Mostly on the field, or rather in the locker room, as he rarely got on the field for the Redskins. But, he wasn’t the poster boy of goodness for the Titans either. Why do you think they let him go?? The Redskins are going to have to suck it up and take their losses on this one and the sooner the better for the entire team.
Now, Banks situation is a little bit different. Most published reports say that Banks was coming to the defense of a long time friend outside the club and was stabbed for getting in the middle of things. To my knowledge, Banks hasn’t been in trouble before and this, as of right now anyway, sounds like a case of being caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Nothing like Haynesworth’s situation where he “allegedly” instigated his assault incident.
The Redskins have got to make wholesale changes if they hope to win more than 6 games next season and the first stop is dropping Haynesworth like a bad penny.
