AFC Title Game: The Pick Part 1

The Jets are getting hot at the right time…

The AFC Title Game goes down in Indy on Sunday and I am TORN.  I mean, really torn.  I haven’t had this hard of a time making a pick until…oh yeah…last year’s AFC Title Game.

Had I been here back then I would have spent 2 to 3 appearances talking about that Ravens/Steelers matchup.  Fortunately, I learned alot from that game so it’ll only take 2 this time.

The Jets believe.  I mean, they really believe in themselves.  They have the best defense in all of football.  Doug Plank coaches up this insane version of the “46 defense” that he spawned with Buddy Ryan back in Chicago.  Rex Ryan is a defensive genius in his own right and the combination is just sick.

Darelle Revis is a monster Cornerback.  I used to think Champ Bailey was the best in the league.  No longer.  Darelle Revis should’ve been defensive player of the year…period.  (I like Charles Woodson, but voting for him made no sense.)

The Jets have offensive linemen who gobble up defenses like it’s nothing.  They put Alan Faneca and Nick Mangold out there along with a host of other 1st rounders and there’s no excuse for them to NOT be able to run the ball.

Mark Sanchez is blossoming in the playoffs into the kind of Quarterback that Pete Carroll was afraid he’d never be.  Sanchez has runners to keep the defense honest.  Sanchez will rarely, if ever, hit the deck for any reason.  Sanchez has Braylon Edwards hanging out in the defensive backfield waiting to catch “the big one”.

For as much as we want to talk about Rex Ryan or the Jets defense…it’s the Jets offense that is coming on strong.  Shonn Green is learning how to be “the man” from Thomas Jones while Jerricho Cotchery and Dustin Keller looks more like a “wide” Wide Receiver than a Tight End.

I bet they are poised to just GO OFF on this Colts defense which is ok… but not great.

How does this one turn out?  Tune in Saturday for the finish…
