AFC Playoff Picture

The AFC playoff picture is partially painted through week 16 but there are still some spots up for grabs under various scenarios.

Already solidified are the AFC East and a 1st round bye with the Patriots.  The AFC South spot is also sorted out with the Houston Texans.  The two wildcard teams right now are the Steelers and Ravens but that could change depending on what happens this weekend.

The Ravens clinch the AFC North division and a first-round bye with a Ravens win OR a Ravens tie and a Steelers loss or tie OR a Steelers loss.  The Ravens clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a Ravens win and a Patriots loss at the Bills.

For the Steelers, they can clinch the AFC North division and a first-round bye with a Steelers win and a Ravens loss or tie OR a Steelers win and a Ravens loss.  The Steelers can clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a Steelers win and a Ravens loss or tie plus a Patriots loss.

The Patriots can clinch home-field advantage throughout AFC playoffs with a Patriots win or tie OR a Ravens loss or tie plus a Steelers loss or tie.

The Broncos can clinch the AFC West division with a Broncos win OR a Broncos tie plus a Raiders loss or tie OR a Raiders loss.  The Raiders can win the AFC West division with a Raiders win plus a Broncos loss or tie OR a Raiders win plus a Broncos loss.  The Raiders can clinch a playoff spot with a Raiders win plus a Bengals loss plus a Titans loss or tie OR a Raiders win plus a Bengals loss plus a Jets win.

The Bengals can clinch a playoff spot with a Bengals win or tie OR a Jets loss or tie plus a Raiders loss or tie OR a Jets loss or tie plus a Broncos loss or tie.  The Jets can clinch a playoff spot with a Jets win plus a Bengals loss plus a Titans loss or tie plus a Raiders loss or tie OR a Jets win plus a Bengals loss plus a Titans loss or tie plus a Broncos loss or tie.  The Titans can clinch a playoff spot with a Titans win plus a Bengals loss and Jets win plus a Raiders loss or tie OR a Titans win plus a Bengals loss plus a Jets win plus a Broncos loss or tie OR a Titans win plus a Bengals loss plus a Jets loss or tie plus a Raiders win plus a Broncos win.

Now, if you don’t have a headache after all that, you’re doing better than I am because I get a headache just trying to figure it all out.  If you’re like me, you might want to print this out for the upcoming games this weekend just to be able to remember all the scenarios in play.  I think I need some Tylenol.
